The Wines
This premium series is produced exclusively from our own Estate grown fruit from our ‘Kauri Sands’ block. The Okahu wines are distinctive, hand made, small production wines that must meet our high standards to gain entry into this series.
Sealed with a screw cap, to guarantee their integrity and consistency and to ensure against cork contamination, the wines are eminently suitable for cellaring and will mature gracefully for extended periods. In the case of the reds, we recommend careful decantering up to one hour prior to service.
Named after the bay at the southern end of 90 Mile beach, these wines reflect the relaxed lifestyle enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. Famous for its surf break, sand hills, seafood and sheer beauty, Shipwreck Bay is a pristine example of the beautiful Northland coastline.
Shipwreck Bay wines are fresh, fruity, friendly and easy to access with their screw top seal. Priced to enjoy every day, the fruit for these wines (with the exception of the Riesling) is grown exclusively on our own slopes.

What the critics say
Beautifully ripe and lifted, the bouquet shows dark berry, smoked game, toasted spice and almond characters. It’s succulent and supple on the palate with silky mouthfeel and fine-grained tannins, leading to a pleasingly dry finish. Attractively matured with appealing spicy/savoury nuances.
